From the Principal

everyone, It’s been a busy couple of weeks since the last newsletter with some exciting activities and events happening this fortnight. Please see below what the great staff and students of Yale have been up to.

Science Week Winners – Congratulations to the students who won the Olympic STEAM challenge for developing the best dioramas in their year groups. It was an honour to help judge the entries with Ms Hardman and Dr Kari Pitts. We look forward to the next science and STEAM based competition where Yale students take on teams from other schools in the Lego League 2024. Our thanks to the SEEC education network that helped secure the funds for this exciting event.

Children’s Week Event comes to Yale in Term 4 – It is with great excitement that we invite families to the inaugural Yale P&C and Meerilinga Children’s Week Sundowner, taking place from 4pm on Friday, October 25th. Meerilinga is the peak early years body in Western Australia, dedicated to supporting and promoting the well-being, learning, and development of young children and their families. We are honoured they have selected Yale to host this premier event for the south metropolitan area. The equivalent event for North of the river will be held in Bullsbrook.

Yale families will have the opportunity to enjoy a range of activities including craft workshops, a petting zoo, soccer games, and various fun activities for all ages. Food trucks will be on-site offering a variety of delicious options as well as a P&C sausage sizzle. There will be entertainment throughout the evening as well. Additionally, there will be stalls where parents can learn more about services and support available for families in the Thornlie area. We greatly appreciate the support of the P&C in making this event possible. Stay tuned for more details as we get closer to the event and see the flyer in the Community Information section in this newsletter!

Book Week @ Yale – Book Week is just around the corner, and we’re excited for the big parade on Friday! This year’s theme is “Read, Grow, Inspire,” and we can’t wait to see the creative and imaginative costumes our students will wear to celebrate our love of books and reading. Students are encouraged to dress as their favourite book characters with no need for anything fancy, just use what you have around the house and be creative!! Over the weeks, we have been conducting special activities, including guest authors to inspire a love of reading and storytelling. Let’s make this Book Week a memorable celebration of reading and imagination!
