Research findings show that regular homework, done in a positive climate at home, will support and enhance your child’s educational progress. It is important that your child knows that you value and support their work at school.
Teachers may set homework for their classes in increasing amounts as they progress through primary school.
The school strongly encourages your child to engage in some reading activity every night. In the very early years this may be listening to you read or discussing storybooks with you. As they become more competent readers you can support them by visiting the Thornlie library and helping them choose books that they enjoy. Children in the middle and upper school can always spend homework time on their spelling, tables and maths combinations.
If you need any information regarding your child’s homework, staff will be very happy to assist in this matter. Cooperation between home and school is extremely advantageous in your child’s education.
