From the Principal

Yale Soars at Cross Country:

I’d like to share some great results from SRSA recent cross-country event! Yale’s young athletes showed true determination and spirit, leading to multiple wins and high placements. Our school ranked an impressive third overall in the handicap event (designed for smaller schools) which is a testament to our students’ hard work and Mr Scotland’s long hours of training. Congratulations to all participants for their fantastic performance!

Premier’s Reading Challenge:

Dewey Visits Yale – Yale Primary School has embraced the Premier’s Reading Challenge this year, with a large number of students diving into the world of books. In a special treat, Yale had the honour of hosting Dewey, the challenge mascot, at our school assembly. A big thank you to Mrs Walker for making this memorable visit possible. Let’s keep the pages turning and continue to build our love for reading.

Science Week Excitement:

STEM Olympic Dioramas – Science Week is off to a fantastic start here at Yale. Students are getting hands-on with various scientific activities, and one of the highlights is the STEM Olympic Dioramas. I am eagerly looking forward to judging these creative projects and exploring the innovative ideas our students have put together. A special thanks to Mrs Hardman for organising this engaging event.

Book Week:

A Literary Adventure Awaits – Looking ahead, Week 6 will bring the much-anticipated Book Week, with activities scheduled to spread across adjacent weeks. This year’s Book Week promises to be a celebration of stories, encouraging students to explore new worlds and characters. Be sure to check the term planner https://yale.wa.edu.au/whats-happening/term-planners/ for all the exciting events planned at Yale for Book Week.

Safety and Respect at Yale Primary:

Parents and guardians, we’d like to remind you that the Department of Education fully supports principals in ensuring that every student, staff member, parent, or carer has the right to feel safe and be safe at our schools. It’s important that we all contribute to a respectful and secure environment by using the appropriate channels to communicate. Please remember:

Respect Availability:

School staff may not be immediately available to respond to inquiries or concerns. Requesting a meeting to discuss your child’s education allows our staff adequate time to prepare. · Communicate Respectfully – Never shout or use derogatory language. Inappropriate conduct does not foster a constructive environment. · Be Kind – Every interaction is an opportunity to show kindness and consideration towards others. For more guidance on these points, please review the “Connect & Respect” section included in this newsletter. This material will help ensure that everyone is compliant with legislation and policy when on our school site. Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to making Yale Primary a welcoming and safe place for all.

Kind Regards,

Principal Jason Shapcott
