Harmony Day
Harmony Day was a wonderful time for students from different countries and cultures to get together and celebrate their uniqueness. It was also a time of celebrating our togetherness in this great nation of Australia, the nation in which we live and share our lives together. The traditional costumes and culturally appropriate outfits worn by a large number of students were simply wonderful to see. The colour and intricacy of some of these costumes and traditional wear was amazing. It was obvious from the smiles on the students’ faces they enjoyed showcasing their families’ cultures.
During this occasion the two peace poles, now erected near the admin building were unveiled to the school, staff, students and the wider school community. Many thanks to the local Rotary Club for donating these to the school and supporting our multiculturalism at Yale. Thank you Mrs Walker for organizing a great Harmony Day parade.
Peace Poles
Two peace poles were unveiled before the parade began and Yale Primary School are very lucky to have received pole number 411 and 412 from the Rotary Club. A peace pole is a monument that displays the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in the language of the country where it has been placed, and usually some additional translations. We have included 6 other languages on our two poles. The message is often called a peace prayer.
This amazing idea was first thought up by Masahisa Goi. Yale Primary School is very lucky to have received this gift from the Rotary Club. The Peace Poles are displayed at the front of the school and there is a QR code for the community to scan, in order to learn more about the Peace Poles.
Professor Maths
It was great to see students involved in a lot of hands-on activities, covering a wide range of maths concepts. Students were presented with a number of problem-solving activities that they engaged in and enjoyed wholeheartedly. It catered for all year levels, so nobody missed out. Many thanks to Mrs Kealley and Mrs Raven for organizing and planning a fantastic activity.
