NAIDOC week is an Australian observance that celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is held in the first week of July, each year. As this observance falls during the school holidays Yale celebrates NAIDOC week in week 10 of this term. The National theme for 2023 is “For Our Elders”, and it is an acknowledgement of the Elders across every generation who have played, and continue to play, an important role in communities and families.
It was fabulous to see our office superstars showcasing their amazing learning. Keep up the great work everyone.
Talent was on show at our assembly in week 8. Thank you Mrs Bennett and the students of A3 for your amazing performance of the song “One From The Left”. It takes a lot of courage to stand in front of a large crowd, especially when you are in year one! Lots of other students in the audience were also joining in and enjoying your song and action moves. Big round of applause to you. Our final assembly for term two will be presented by A4. We look forward to seeing you there.
We had a special visitor from Helping Hands at our last assembly. Manners Garatidyethe, Helping Hands Regional Operations Manager, spoke to us about the programs that were available for before and after school care and in the school holidays. Representatives set up an information desk for our school families to access more details. Helping Hands is a separately run, out of school hours care business, that lease a building at Yale Primary School. We have additional information in the office if you would like to learn more.
