A message from the Principal

This is our first school newsletter for 2024 and I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome you back to Yale Primary School.

Isn’t it amazing that as soon as the kids return, so does the heat? With that in mind, at Yale Primary School we do the following during a heatwave:

Children don’t play on the ovals in the direct sunlight but are instead asked to play in undercover areas in the shade.
We open up the shed, which has refrigerated air conditioning, and show a movie during lunchtimes. The airconditioned library is opened up and students can go in and do quiet activities.

The C block teachers have decided to open up their spare room, which has bean bags and refrigerated air conditioning and watch a movie likewise.

Students choose which area they go to. All of these activities are supervised by the teachers who would normally be on the ovals. Regarding the current and future heatwaves that students will experience, we would encourage you, where possible, to place a small frozen drink bottle in their lunchboxes and provide them with an additional drink, so that they stay hydrated.
