Newsletter Term 4 – Week 5

Dear Parents

Welcome back to school for Term 4.  I trust the students had a restful break and are ready and raring to go.  This is a very busy term with the year six students graduating at the end of the year, interschool sports carnivals being held and semester 2 student reports being written by the teachers.

With the exception of our current year 6 students, if your child or children will not be attending Yale in 2020, please let the school office know by phoning 9493 2088.  It assists us in the planning of our classes for next year.

Yale Primary has a policy of “No hat, no play in the sun” Policy during the seasons of summer, autumn and spring.  Students who are not wearing a hat during recess and lunch breaks will be directed to sit in a shaded area.

Glen Read – Principal

Congratulations to our 10 School Leaders for 2020.  Every interested student, put forward their campaign speech, which by the way was prepared by them in their own time over the school holidays. Their peers and teachers involved voted and as a result, the following students were selected.

Rukaia R,  Narnia A,  Qian Qi,  Chaylee G,  Jessica D,  Rommel C,  Mason L,  Thomas H,  Hayden S, Preyton Mano L

Well done to every student who put an effort into this campaign.

To acknowledge International White Cane Day 2019, we were privileged to have a visit from Deborah and her associate Paul who spoke to a group of students to explain the achievements of people who are blind or visually impaired and the important symbol of blindness and tool of independence, the white cane.

Woolworths/Landcare Grant

Earlier this year, Yale was the recipient of a Grant to support our garden and sustainability programme. A representative from Woolworths came to our May 10th Assembly and presented the Award.

As the year comes to a close we would like to thank Woolworths and Landcare. We have purchased FOGO bins for the undercover area, strengthened our vegetable garden and plantings around the school, more garden equipment and a checklist for Aylesford Reserve available to anyone in our School Community. Year 6 students use it regularly for their work in the Reserve.  The vegetable garden is in full production, much to the delight of our students who are having fun eating the results of their gardening skills.

Thank you again Woolworths and Landcare for the Grant.  We appreciate it very much.

Cath Donaldson – Science Teacher.

Yale Primary School P&C

Thank you to everyone who supported our Annual Halloween Stall on Wednesday 30 October. We had lots of donations of cakes and slices and made a profit of $736 for the school. Thank you to everyone who donated items, and to those parents who were able to assist at the stall on the day.

The last event for the year will be our Christmas Stall to be held on Wednesday 4 December. If anyone is able to assist in volunteering to help run the stall in the day between 8.45am and 1pm, it would be greatly appreciated. Please let us know via Facebook if you can assist on the day. If anyone would like to make any items for sale, please advise us ASAP.

As you may be aware, Yale Primary School is turning 50 Years old next year and the P&C, in conjunction with the school will be holding a Fete on Saturday 21 March on the school grounds. The Fete committee is currently meeting once a month on Monday afternoons at 3.15pm and meetings go for an hour. If anyone has ideas, suggestions, or know local businesses or groups who would like to be involved, please come along to a meeting and share your information. The next meeting will be held on Monday 18 November at 3.15pm in the staffroom. Children have an area to do their homework and play while the meeting is happening, so please bring them along. Alternatively, please send information to our email address –

The P&C is always looking for new faces to attend our meetings and share their ideas and suggestions. Please ensure you join our Facebook page (Yale Primary School P&C) for updates on events at the school, meetings, general questions or reminders.  Don’t forget to join Connect as well to keep up to date with School events – if you are unsure how to join, please contact the office, or attend their information sessions on Tuesdays after school. A reminder that you will not be able to access your child’s report at the end of this term unless you are on Connect. Please check Facebook for any updates or speak to one of the committee around the school.

The P&C thanks you for your continued support!
